The cry of give me liberty or give me death still often rings in our ears when we are oppressed. Who are the oppressed, and for what reason? Most of my oppression has been in my mind. We, in the U. S. have had a lot of liberty. I have had a great life and lived in a good time in this land. It is only lately I have felt oppressed, and it is mainly oppression in high places when I stand to express the truth of God’s Word and the Lordship of Jesus. This Tuesday we will again celebrate our freedom. It is a great break in the midst of a hot summer in Florida. It will be cook outs and fire works. What are we really celebrating? It is the joy of being in a nation where we are free to voice our thoughts and reach for the future we dream of. When the question was asked if you want liberty or truth, it was answered by many I would rather have liberty than truth. My question is this, what good is liberty without truth? It will all turn out to be a lie. It is our sin and disobedience to the Lord that brings true destruction. We will never be free sl long as we live in sin, we will only reap death. Jesus says a servant will not always be in the house. If we continue to live in sin we will not always abide in the Lord’s house (living in the glory of His Spirit) When Jesus said the truth would make you free He was saying living the truth will keep you from sin. Liberty to do what we want kills us by our own liberty. Just look at the deadly diseases from ungodly sex, look at the confused children about identity with gays, lesbians. bisexual, and transgender. God has an order that brings true life, that order is found in His truth. Outside of God’s truth there will be no order, but confusion and destruction. May this fourth finder your life ordered by His ways. Blessings.
